Dog Training

Welcome to the Savvy Shepherd Dog Training! As a lifelong animal person with years of experience in professional dog training, I’m here to help you and your dog achieve your goals together.

Our Options:

Private Lessons

Private lessons start at $50/hr and are contingent on acceptance after an initial consultation. In these sessions, we will work in either your home or environment of your choice to address behavior issues, lifestyle changes, and healthy communication with your dog.

Group Lessons

Our more affordable, less-tailored option for training is group lessons. These are ideal for those who just need practice around other dogs, small training tweaks, and proper puppy socialization. Group lessons are open to anyone, run 1-2 hours depending on size, and cost $10/team to attend. Once there is enough interest, time slots will be posted on our calendar and open to sign up. Location will be posted in advance and be within the Milwaukee area.

Our Training Philosophy

Our focus in training is a flexible, dog-first approach that tailors the method to the dog. While we do not subscribe to a specific, limited “camp” (i.e. “purely positive”), our approach can best be described as balanced with a positive lean. This means that if you have a sensitive dog that does wonderfully with positive reinforcement methods, we may only use those. If you have a high-drive dog that thrives with some boundaries, we may take a more balanced approach while addressing lifestyle changes to meet their mental needs. Your dog’s safety and mental wellbeing always comes first. I also want to ensure you as the owner are comfortable and confident with our methods throughout the process, and able to implement behavior and lifestyle changes on your own.

Specialty Training

As keen adventurers and sport competitors, I am always happy to arrange a specialty training lesson by request! This could be teaching your dog to paddleboard, agility foundations, dock diving, hiking, and more! Gear available for lessons includes: paddleboard, agility jumps, agility tunnel.

Assessments/Consultations

Assessments for training placement are $25, full refundable if you are not accepted for training. Reasons for non-acceptance of clients include but are not limited to aggression, client conduct, and safety concerns. Assessments generally run 30 minutes long, but can vary. To sign up for your initial assessment, email thesavvyshepherd@gmail.com.
